Gunnera insignis
The Gunnera insignis has very large leaves, normally 1.5-2 meters long/wide. These huge leaves earn it the name 'Poor man's Umbrella'. There are 40-50 different species of Gunnera insignis that can be found in varied areas of South America. The Gunnera has heart shaped leaves. The bottom flowers of the Gunnera are female, the top flowers are male, and the middle flowers are bi-sexual. The flowers grow outward, while the leaves grow vertically. The Gunnera likes to grow on a plateau, or on relatively high ground.
